It all began 82 years ago in Barbedos. Nah, I'm kidding. I am Joel Manning; I live in the Ogden area of Utah and enjoy music, the outdoors, and as you have probably already guessed, technology. Having worked in that industry for some time, now, and seeing the unruly and unscupulous things going on (especially in the realm of the corporate giants), I feel like I cannot just stand by and silently let it happen passively; so I decided to step up and help people out where I can. It tends to rub me the wrong way when I see bigger businesses come in and take advantage of people who don't know any better. No, I believe that my neighbors, friends and those who I help are wonderful and capable people who can learn and do great things.
So, with just enough knowledge of how to code a basic website, and more than enough knowledge of how to setup my own home networkwork infrastructure, I established this website to be a place people can come to find answers and seek knowledge.
In addition to that, occasionally, I also record blog posts on things I felt important to share. If you aren't a fan of any of it, no worries, that's fine! I don't expect everyone to see eye to eye with me on everything. But I figured I should try and be a voice for good in this world, whether I'm very good at it or not. This website, along with other subdomains, is a continual work in progress, and is being upheld and hosted by a one-man team whose profession lies more heavily in network architecture than in website coding.
Also, this website now bears the Northstar Tech branding, but you may come across my still somewhat active branding of "MedjoPangit". If you don't know what that means, it's a slang spelling of the words medyo pangit, which, in Tagalog means kinda ugly. The backstory of that name has a rather silly origin, but it's too long to recount here. In any case, I hope you find something good today, whether it comes from my website or not. Have a good one!
